A message from the president

Dear members and friends,
As we head towards winter you can already see we’ve been up to a bit so far this year.
The inaugural ACRA One Day Course in Concrete Repair was held in Sydney on March 9 and we are pleased to say the feedback has been very positive!
We have already scheduled the course in Brisbane on the May 20 and another in Sydney on June 1. Both of these courses are already close to being booked out so hurry up and register.
We are also pleased to announce that the course will be run in Melbourne late July and Perth late August. More details to come shortly. If you are interested in attending any of these courses please email info@acrassoc.com.au and we’ll pre-register you.
Also, if you would like the course to be presented to a group of employees anywhere in the country, then we can arrange this also. Drop us an email.

Seminar reviews 2010 ACRA Award winners

Forty turned up in Sydney on the February 28 to hear about four of the award winning entries from last year’s 2010 ACRA Awards
Water Infrastructure Group spoke about the rehabilitation of the Moreton Bay manholes in Queensland and Gore Creek Viaduct in Sydney; Hyder Consulting and Preservation Technologies spoke about both sides of the coin (consultant and contractor) with their 175 Liverpool Street high rise repair project in Sydney; Hi Tech Remedial and Construction spoke about the refurbishment of a block of apartments at Maroubra Beach, Sydney and Metrocorp Technologies spoke about their Repair Industry Excellence award for the rehabilitation of the NGRS sewer tunnel.
The seminar provided some interesting detail on the logistics and technical challenges of the projects and how these were overcome. The audience had a chance to quiz each presenter about their projects and gain further insights into why the projects were deserving of their award.
A networking session followed where everyone got to relax over drinks and finger food. Thanks to all for attending. Further seminars will follow throughout the year including seminars in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Top concrete repair projects named in Awards 2010

Winners of ACRA Awards for excellence in concrete repair for 2010 were announced at a presentation event at Sydney's Sebel Pier One on October 28.
Along with those presented with Merit Awards, the winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges, who said that "Immediately apparent to us from the entries this year was the high level of professionalism demonstrated by ACRA members, with consultants and contractors working together to ensure the optimal result for the client."
